Built by a teacher, for curious kids

I teach primary school — children aged 5 to 12.

Every day I have kids in my class who are bursting with questions, the ones who want to go deeper than the lesson allows. And the honest truth is I don’t have time to chase down all the brilliant things they ask about — my attention has to be spread across the whole room. I can adapt how I teach to each child, but the material itself doesn’t adapt. So the children who need more, or need it differently, often end up with private tuition, which is expensive and out of reach for a lot of families.

I use AI a great deal in my own life, and it struck me that it could be the one thing a child like that has never had: a tutor who is always there, who actually knows the subject, who has infinite patience and time, and who can meet a child exactly where they are.

What put me off the apps already out there is that they’re built by tech people, not teachers. They don’t seem to ask how children actually learn — only how to keep them tapping and spending. Endless games, rewards, bright colours, jingles. Very little real learning. The content is thin, and the whole thing is dressed up in fun because, I think, it doesn’t respect the intelligence of the child using it.

I believe children are clever. Their ability to make sense of the world surprises me every single day. They deserve to be respected — given real tools, given space to grow, and then trusted to explore on their own. Because it’s in that individual exploration that a child begins to find out who they are.
